Our work in rights-based rainforest protection

Tackling deforestation with tech

Our community forest monitoring initiative unlocks the potential of forest guardians by connecting them with law enforcement agencies to monitor and protect forests. At the heart of this is ForestLink – a breakthrough system that enables communities to transmit highly accurate and low cost geographical alerts of illegal forest activities in real-time, even from remote areas with no connectivity.

Supporting land & livelihoods

We campaign for laws and policies that recognise the rights of communities to their lands and resources, help put otherwise 'invisible' forest peoples on the map, and assist them in developing and implementing land-use plans that protect forests and sustain livelihoods.

Turning research into action

Our research, advocacy and campaigns address the root causes of deforestation and its human impacts, expose the false solutions to these threats and develops actionable and scalable solutions for policy makers. This work is thoroughly rooted in practical experience and is constantly aimed at amplifying the voices of marginalised forest communities.
